Who We Are

Thousand Oaks residents have experienced wildfires, floods, power outages, and earthquakes. The City, County Fire Department and FEMA have joined together to offer bilingual  disaster preparedness education and training.

Know what to do during an emergency incident at  school or the workplace. After a major incident, volunteers and helpful people are needed. The CERT program teaches residents about how tp prepare and respond to an emergency incident and how to respond to them.

What We Do

CERT volunteers will learn basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, team organization, hazards that may impact their area, and disaster medical operations.

CERT members receive hands-on training in:

• Emergency preparedness and response skills
• Reducing fire hazards in the home and workplace
• Setting up medical treatment areas
• Assisting emergency responders
• Treatment and triage evaluation
• Conducting light search and rescue
• Organizing and managing a CERT Team

It takes about 24 hours to complete the CERT program, but you can proceed at your own pace. Each graduate will receive a manual, a CERT Start-up kit (helmet, gloves, vest and goggles) and a certificate of completion. To appy for the in person class, click HERE
